Museum Dinosaur Mummy Specimen For Sale!
This listing is for an incredible 23 foot long mummified Edmontosaurus tail from the Hell Creek Formation of Harding County, South Dakota. This specimen was one of the first mummified dinosaur specimens to ever be discovered and still is one of the best specimens to have skin preserved on the animal.
This incredible Edmontosaurus dinosaur tail was discovered in 2003 in the famous Hell Creek Formation dating back to the Late Cretaceous Period dating back to approximately 66 million years ago. Dinosaurs found in this geologic formation are among the most famous to ever be discovered. Other dinosaur genus from this ecosystem are Tyrannosaurus Rex, Ankylosaurus, Triceratops, Pachycephalosaurus and Dakotaraptor.
The specimen is fully prepared and 3D displayed on a custom stand. The greatest part about this specimen is the fact that it still has skin attached to the bones themselves! As you can see in the photos there are large patches of skin still “mummified” on the specimen.
Edmontosaurus is what as known as a Duck Billed Dinosaur part of the Hadrosaur family of dinosaurs. These dinosaurs were herbivores and likely traveled in herds and nested in large groups based on the famous Egg Mountain find in the Cretaceous aged Two Medicine Formation of Montana. This discovered also suggested that these animals actively cared for their young.
This specimen is beyond museum quality since most museums have nothing even close to this sort of preservation on a fossil.
This actual specimen has been featured in the show Dino Fight as well as Natural History Magazine in the article “A Dinosaur Tail” in 2004. Included in the pictures are photos from the original article.
The specimen could be shipped but pick up would be preferred. It is located in Bryan, Texas. I am not the one personally selling this item but advertising it for a close friend. Please contact me with questions about pricing and shipping! 832-331-6934 hellcreekdinosaurs@gmail.com
