My Story
This website was created in order to share my personal fossil collection with other people. I have been collecting fossils since 2002 and have amassed a collection of fossils that I have personally found as well as purchased online and at fossil shows. I wanted to make a website in order to show different fossils to people in order to share them with the world as well as educate people about fossils and how they are discovered. The goal is to make a sort of virtual museum to share with everyone.
I was a high school science teacher for 7 years and now work in the oil and gas energy industry. I have always had an interest in science and fossil hunting/collecting allows me to follow that passion. Some of my fossils have been on display in schools and museums and I've donated many fossils to museums and fossil educators. Sharing discoveries is what paleontology is all about. I believe all fossils should be available for the public to see, whether online or on display in public and private museums. I do not believe any fossils should be stored away in museum basements where only academics have access to. They should be shared with all of the public. This site allows me to share my finds. And of course, all scientifically valuable discoveries belong to the public which is why the organization I collect fossils with (Paleo Prospectors) makes sure such fossils make it to a university or museum. |
The website is split into three different sections: My Collection, Fossils In The Field and Fossils For Sale.
My Collection highlights my best fossils and has additional context to explain how/where they were found. Fossils In The Field is a section dedicated to showing how fossils are discovered in the field and how they are excavated. Fossils For Sale is exactly what it sounds like. I sell the majority of fossils I discover and keep the ones I prize the most. I also buy and sell fossils online and at fossils shows. My eBay username is hellcreekdinosaurs which is the main platform for how I sell my fossils but some of the better specimens are also featured on this website. |
