SOLD Allosaurus Premaxillary Tooth Jurassic Morrison Formation Colorado
For sale is a beautiful Allosaurus premaxillary tooth with excellent serrations and enamel. The serrations are flawless but unfortunately the base of the tooth is missing. There is also a nice wear pattern on one side of the tooth which suggest the tooth in the opposing jaw rubbed against this tooth every time the animal bit down.
The tooth measures 3/4" in length.
There is a white pattern towards the base of the tooth which is completely natural. When plant roots get too close to teeth or bones in the ground they can actually acid etch a pattern on them. What this means is that it wasn't too far below the surface when it was finally exposed (plant roots were able to get near it).
This tooth was found in the Morrison Formation of Moffat County, Colorado. The Morrison dates back to the Jurassic Period approximately 150 million years in age. This formation represents a time in North America where iconic dinosaurs roamed the Earth including Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus, Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus, Torvosaurus, Camarasaurus as well as many others.
The fossil will come with a COA upon the buyer's request. Don't miss out on an opportunity to own a tooth from one of the most iconic dinosaurs in history!
