SOLD Giant 1.75"+ Tyrannosaur Partial Tooth Aguja Formation Texas!
For sale is a really impressive rare fossil from the Aguja Formation of SW Texas. It is a large section of a huge Tyrannosaur tooth! Strata from this geologic formation dates back to the Late Cretaceous about 73-77 million years in age.
Most of the land in this part of Texas is state or federal land so collecting fossils is illegal. However, there are small pockets of private ranchland which only a few people have access to which is where these fossils are coming from. I purchased this fossil from an outfit that has almost exclusive access to the Aguja Formation in SW Texas.
This fossil is large section of a huge Tyrannosaur tooth. It measures a little over 1.75" in length and has beautifully colored and preserved enamel. Also, luckily there are still some serrations present towards the tip of this partial tooth.
This tooth could only be from a large Tyrannosaur dinosaur but there is still so little known about this formation that the genus is hard to identify. It is most likely from a large Daspletosaurus-like Tyrannosaur but will likely become a new species once a partial skeleton is discovered and described.
