3/4" Timurlengia Theropod Dinosaur Tooth Bissekty Formation Uzbekistan
This listing is for an extremely rare Timurlengia euotica dinosaur tooth from the Bissekty Formation of the Kyzyl Kum Desert of Uzbekistan. Fossils from this geologic formation are about 90-92 million years in age (Cretaceous Period) and represents an area of very lush vegetation and a lot of biodiversity but is now an arid desert.
The tooth measures 3/4" in length and comes with its own gem display case. The tooth is really special since it is in such excellent condition. Teeth from this formation are often very worn looking and the serrations are mostly or completely weathered off. However, this tooth is very crisp and has great color.
Timurlengia is categorized as a Tyrannosaurid dinosaur from this formaton and lived along other species of theropods, reptiles, pterosaurs and many herbivorous dinosaurs. However, research in this formation is still young and there are surely many more discoveries to come. It seems like every theropod tooth from this area is called Timurlengia but with time there will likely be more species discovered and teeth better identified. To me, this tooth looks much more small theropod/dromaeosaur so could represent an as yet undiscovered species. However, this is just all speculation of course.
